Kings Ready to Sign Free Agent Olczyk

The Kings have made their first foray into the summer free-agent market and are expected to sign center Eddie Olczyk to a two-year contract worth about $2 million, sources said.
Olczyk, 29, played last season with the Winnipeg Jets, now known as the Phoenix Coyotes. Despite a knee injury and limited playing time, Olczyk scored 27 goals and had 49 points in 51 games with only 65 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder is expected to help the Kings’ power play. Of his 27 goals, 16 came on power plays.
Olczyk earned $550,000 last season, and was said to have been offered a one-year deal worth $650,000 by the Coyotes.
King General Manager Sam McMaster was not available for comment Sunday. Olczyk is scheduled to fly to Los Angeles for a routine physical and could sign as early as today.
His most productive season was in 1988-89, when he scored 90 points with Toronto, and he had a 42-goal performance the previous season.
