ValuJet Creates Maintenance Post: ValuJet Airlines, grounded last month because of maintenance problems, has created a new position to oversee maintenance and engineering. The carrier said Jim Jensen, a former McDonnell Douglas executive, will fill the post. Jensen will supervise the Atlanta-based company’s day-to-day maintenance and engineering operations and report directly to President Lewis Jordan. He will work with the airline’s new safety chief, retired Air Force Gen. James B. Davis. Jensen was vice president of product support for Douglas Aircraft Co., the commercial division of McDonnell Douglas Corp., where he was responsible for after-delivery support of McDonnell Douglas aircraft. Jensen previously worked for Trans World Airlines.
