Joe Erickson to Seek Second Council Term

Share

Mayor Joe Erickson this week declared his candidacy for a second term on the City Council.

Erickson, elected in 1992, pointed out some of the council’s achievements in the past four years: opening a new senior citizens center, expanding the Police Department’s gang detail and closing several motels that had housed prostitution rings.

Several companies moved major operations to town during that time, too, including Unocal Corp. and Automobile Club of Southern California.

Erickson said his experience in local government has been good for him and his family as well. “We have made some sacrifices, but I think my kids have learned a lot about the way a community functions because of my involvement,” he said.

A firm believer in term limits, Erickson said he plans to impose them on himself. His second term, he said, would be his last.
