Davis Cup Participation a Real Key to Wimbledon
I think we can see the hand of God in this year’s Wimbledon tournament. Those country-less international capitalists--Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras--found it unprofitable to answer their country’s call to compete against the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup. Three of those four were eliminated in the first round at Wimbledon. Then Sampras was gone. And which were the last two Americans? MaliVai Washington and Todd Martin, who did play in the Davis Cup, albeit in a losing effort.
