Marco Etcheverry scored in the 72nd minute Friday night to give the D.C. United a 1-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Mutiny in Major League Soccer at Washington.
The United (7-10) moved within five points of first-place Tampa Bay (9-7) in the Eastern Division. A crowd of 20,014 attended the game in RFK Stadium.
