CARMEL--Another summer of classical music is planned throughout the village during the annual Carmel Bach Festival, which started July 13 and continues through Aug. 4. Bruno Weil is music director for the event, featuring concerts in the Sunset Theater, the Carmel Mission Basilica and other venues. Works by J.S. BIG BEAR LAKE--Old-fashioned fun awaits at the 49th annual Old Miner’s Days, July 19-Aug. 4. Celebrate this area’s gold mining history with festivities throughout the Big Bear Valley on July 19-21, July 27-28 and Aug. 3-4. Activities include a chili cook-off; burro events, including donkey baseball; horseshoe pitching, and the Cowboy Poetry Reading Competition and Music Festival. SONOMA--Sonoma’s bounty of art, food and wine are showcased at the 11th annual Salute to the Arts at 10 a.m.-6 p.m. July 20-21 in downtown’s Sonoma Plaza. Chefs and winemakers are on hand, local authors sign books, and actors and musicians present theater and a wide variety of music. Local galleries sponsor visual art exhibits.
