BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : Orioles’ Anderson Might Need Appendix Removed
Baltimore outfielder Brady Anderson, whose 31 home runs place him among the league leaders, went to the hospital after Friday night’s game at Boston with what doctors believe is appendicitis.
“If I have the surgery, I could be out for one month to six weeks,” he said after the Orioles lost, 13-2, to the Red Sox. “Hopefully, it won’t be that and I will only be out for a few days. But it doesn’t look good.”

Seattle Mariner left-hander Randy Johnson, who has been sidelined since May 12 with a back injury, is at least two weeks away from pitching in a game. . . . The Texas Rangers put first baseman Will Clark on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right calf muscle and promoted pitcher Rick Helling to take his place.
