Clay-Bey Gets New Foe and a Reprieve

Because of an an error in the draw Friday, American super-heavyweight Lawrence Clay-Bey, a medal contender, originally was announced to be fighting Russian standout Alexei Lezin in his first bout. But the mistake was corrected, and, to Clay-Bey’s apparent benefit, he will fight Vladimir Klitchko of Ukraine in his first bout.

The first rounds in three weight classes will be completed today--light-flyweight (in which the American is Albert Guardado), lightweight (Terrance Cauthen) and heavyweight (U.S. representative Nate Jones has a bye until Friday’s second round).
