Re “The Aliens Are Coming! Pass the Cash,” Column Left, July 16:
As long as members of Congress are able to line their pockets and inflate their egos with pork-barrel projects for their districts, taxpayers will continue to foot the bill. Projects doomed to failure such as “Star Wars” will suck funds away from truly necessary expenditures such as education, rebuilding the infrastructure and medical care.
It is refreshing to read Robert Scheer’s column. His column sometimes seems to be one of the few voices of reason, in a nation that far too frequently listens to the pedantic babble of the extreme right.
