Pair of Gunmen Kill Man, Wound Boy

Two gunmen shot and killed a 36-year-old man and wounded his 9-year-old nephew for no apparent reason, a police detective said.

The victim, Gerardo Campos Lizarraga, was sitting with his wife on the front porch of their home in the 10600 block of Valerio Street about 10:15 p.m. Saturday when two men approached and fired, striking him in the upper body, Los Angeles Police Det. Gil Uribe said. After killing Lizarraga, the gunmen fired at his wife as she ran into the house to call for help.

She wasn’t hit, but the couple’s nephew, who was inside the house, suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm. Paramedics took the boy to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, where he was treated and released.

The gunmen fled on foot and remain at large.
