Red Schoolhouse to Mark Centennial
Built by frontier families 100 years ago, the Little Red Schoolhouse on the outskirts of Santa Paula will mark its centennial with an all-day celebration Aug. 3.
The school’s festivities at 20030 E. Telegraph Road will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with historical displays, horseback trail rides, a barbershop quartet and other activities.
The one-room schoolhouse is the only school in the Santa Clara School District and draws about 35 students from kindergarten to sixth grade.
The bright red school still runs much like it did when it was founded, with two teachers giving lessons to students.
