Carole Ann Wall, who has been involved for more than two decades in organizing the city’s Fourth of July celebration, was recognized for her efforts with the inaugural Bill Gallienne Award.

The late Gallienne was a resident who for many years volunteered his time for the annual Fourth of July parade. City officials said the award will be presented each year to an outstanding parade volunteer who has emulated Gallienne’s spirit.

Wall, 59, a parade volunteer for 23 years, has served on the parade’s organizing board and was chairwoman three times. This year, she was also one of the parade announcers.

The owner of a local publishing company, Wall is also involved in the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Action, which puts on the Miss Huntington Beach pageant. She organizes special chamber mixers and oversees a scholarship program.

Over the years, Wall has been honored for her volunteerism and was recognized as a California Woman of the Year in 1991 by her chamber peers statewide. She is also a member of the Huntington Beach Federated Women’s Club.
