Hernandez Joins Cuban Hit Parade
Cuban welterweight Juan Hernandez, the 1992 Olympic silver medalist, helped the Cubans stay unbeaten by easily outpointing Bulgarian Vadim Mezga, 12-2.
In other noteworthy bouts, Tunisian welterweight Kamel Chater beat Lithuanian Vitalijus Karpaciauskas with a knockdown after one minute and 16 seconds.
French heavyweight Christophe Mendy looked like a medal prospect, stopping Romanian Ovidiu Bali in the second round. He now meets Canadian David DeFiagbon. DeFiagbon defeated Ahmed Omar of Kenya, 15-4.
