Waste Reduction, Recycling Efforts Honored

* The city of Thousand Oaks announced the winners of its annual WasteWatch Awards programs, which honor businesses and nonprofit groups that practice effective waste reduction and recycling efforts. Gold Award plaques in three categories were awarded at the July 16 City Council meeting. The winners by category include:
* Recycling Education: Through Children’s Eyes, a nonprofit environmental education group for local youth.
* Recycling: Vons (stores #441, #135 and #92) and Baxter Healthcare Corp.
* Buying Recycled: Whole Foods Market.
