JetHawks Thwarted in 9th
The JetHawks, unable to hold a three-run lead Saturday night, lost their third game in a row as Jesus Ibarra’s ninth-inning home run lifted the San Jose Giants to a 6-5 victory before 2,487 at Municipal Stadium.
Ibarra, who had been hitless in three at-bats while striking out twice, broke a 5-5 tie with his 15th homer with one out and nobody on against reliever John Thompson (1-6).
The JetHawks (17-20) started quickly with three runs in the second, keyed by Shane Monahan’s two-run single. San Jose scored two in the second and three in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead before the JetHawks tied it with two in the fifth.
