John G. Hardy Named Senior V.P. of Printrak International

* John G. Hardy has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president of operations for Printrak International Inc., an Anaheim supplier of automated fingerprint identification systems. Hardy, who had been vice president of engineering, will be responsible for worldwide customer service and manufacturing. Daniel J. Driscoll was named vice president of engineering and product development. He continues as acting director of marketing until a successor is named. The company said Hardy’s appointment was triggered by the retirement of Charles L. Smith, who had been chief operating officer since 1990. He will remain a Printrak director.

* Neil McCaffery has been appointed regional vice president of the Earle M. Jorgensen Co.’s Southern region operations. He has been with the Brea-based metals distributor for 25 years, most recently as district manager for the Lynwood operation.

* Grant R. Chamberlain has joined the board of InSight Health Services Corp., a Newport Beach provider of diagnostic imaging, treatment and related management services, bringing the number of directors to five. Chamberlain is a vice president at Shattuck Hammond Partners Inc., a New York-based specialty investment bank that acted as investment banker to American Health Services Corp. during the merger with Maxum Health Corp., which resulted in the formation of InSight.

* Masamichi Katsurada has been appointed president of Toshiba America Medical Systems, a Tustin provider of diagnostic imaging equipment. He will also serve as president of the company’s subsidiary, Toshiba America MRI Inc., its R&D;, engineering and manufacturing facility in South San Francisco. Katsurada succeeds Kunio Sumikawa, who returns to the Medical Systems division in Tokyo to head worldwide marketing. Katsurada, who joined Toshiba in 1968, most recently held the position of senior manager, strategic planning and marketing group. From 1990 to 1995, he served as managing director of Toshiba Medical Systems Europe.

* Valerie Schepens has been appointed director of marketing for the Ruby’s Restaurant Group in Newport Beach, which operates 27 diners in California, Nevada and Pennsylvania. Schepens’ experience includes director of marketing for Cimm’s Inc., a franchisee of Burger King and Tony Roma’s restaurants, and marketing coordinator of 800 Burger King restaurants in the Western region.

* Chuck Bruns has been named director of sales for Disney Sports Enterprises Inc. in Anaheim. He will oversee all ticket and suite sales for the Mighty Ducks and California Angels. Bruns succeeds Joel Curran, who left for a marketing and advertising position with Price/McNabb in Charlotte, N.C. Bruns was previously director of corporate and special markets for MCA/Universal Studios Hollywood. Before that, he was group sales manager for Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park.

* Diane Compton has been appointed a vice president of Marine National Bank in Irvine. She was formerly an officer of Alliance Bank in Culver City and an officer of Queen City Bank in Long Beach.

* Jim Howard has joined Coopers & Lybrand’s Newport Beach office as director of national construction litigation. He was previously president and chief executive of Kitchell Contractors.

* Scott Jones, formerly El Pollo Loco vice president of research and development and quality control, has been named to the newly created position of vice president, research and development-West for Flagstar Companies Inc. In his new role, Jones is responsible for all product research and development, restaurant equipment design and restaurant engineering functions for Flagstar’s Carrows, Coco’s and El Pollo Loco subsidiaries based on the West Coast. He will be located in the Irvine office. Jones joined El Pollo Loco in 1993 as director of research and development and was promoted to vice president of research and development and quality control in June 1995. Prior to El Pollo Loco, he was vice president of research and development and quality control for Carl’s Jr. Restaurants for four years, and vice president of operations and corporate systems for Marie Callender Restaurants, where he worked for 23 years.
