You confound me. As soon as I dismiss your magazine as a voyeur’s guide into people’s gardens and the clothes they wear to sit in them, you publish, on June 23, two poignant, concise and literate articles at once.

The story of Nobuyuki Idei and Sony (“Can This Man Build a Better Sony?” by Gale Eisenstodt) was illuminating. And “The Howard Stern Files” (by Paul D. Colford) put into perspective the media owners’ concern over freedom of speech versus freedom to conduct business in the broadcast industry.

That you slid those two articles in among stories about what women should wear this summer (“Playing It Cool,” Style) and an article about the cherry tomato (“Little Wonder,” by Janet Bukovinsky) confirms my faith in the writers and editors of the magazine.

Now if you would just get Harry Shearer back . . . . just asking.
