A 9-year-old boy was in critical condition after being struck by a car as he crossed a street near Camino Real Park, police said Wednesday.
Bobby Mirshafiee of Orange appeared to have been playing at the park with his family about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday when he walked in front of a Jaguar heading west on Sycamore Avenue near Main Street, investigators said.
“The 9-year-old was crossing the street between two parked cars, and was struck as he stepped out in front of the Jaguar,” Officer Kelvin Van Gorder said.
The boy was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. The driver, who was not cited, had been driving under the posted speed limit of 30 mph, Investigator Dave Alton said.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
