Motorists wishing to contest parking citations may do so at a new Valley facility beginning Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation is opening the San Fernando Valley Parking Citation Administrative Hearing Office at 14428 Hamlin St., Suite 230, Van Nuys. Currently, hearings are held at two Los Angeles locations, one on the Westside, the other downtown.

“The opening of the Van Nuys office brings us one step closer to achieving our strategic priority of providing . . . facilities within a 15-mile radius of 90% of the city,” said department General Manager Robert R. Yates.

The staff will conduct scheduled hearings and special hearings for those whose cars were seized by the city.

Hearings will be held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The new office could draw some city residents who are closer to Van Nuys than to the other locations, said Principal Transportation Engineer Alice Lepis.

Requests for hearings must be made by calling the Parking Violations Bureau at (818) 901-7027, (310) 659-5561, (213) 623-6533 or TDD (213) 623-7046.
