Woodcrest Residents Win Parking Ban

Share

Woodcrest tract residents this fall may get a break from the hassles of Los Alamitos High School students parking on neighborhood streets.

The City Council on Monday approved residents’ request to prohibit parking in their neighborhood from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays.

Residents complained that they were inconvenienced by students who park on their streets during school hours, often blocking driveway entrances and sidewalk access.

Thirty-three residents submitted a petition to the city asking for a parking restriction to be put in place. The restriction, however, will not apply to service vehicles that need to be parked on streets for servicing lawns and other work.

Signs prohibiting parking will be posted on Del Norte, San Joaquin and El Dorado Way.

Police plan to warn high school students about the new parking restriction during the first week of school, which begins Sept. 5. Thereafter, illegally parked cars will be ticketed.
