And Tinker Bell Can’t Pitch, Either

Thank you for your article on the Angels, (Bill Plaschke’s Sunday Scene, Aug. 11). We are 26-year season ticket holders and we have been true supporters of our home team and of Gene Autry through highs and lows. But now it has become a sideshow. Not only are we watching poor baseball, but we are subjected to a three-ring circus. The fireworks are great. However, baseball, Disneyland and young things in short-shorts kicking, jumping and whatever, just do not mix. Let’s get back to baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and winning a few. Thank you for telling it like it is.

The Dodgers’ new third baseman, Tim Wallach, certainly is a great addition to the team. And to think there was some team out there that was stupid enough to let him go. Too bad the Angels can’t seem to find players like that. Aw, what the heck. Even if they did get a player with Wallach’s skill and leadership qualities, they’d probably totally ignore his value to the team, let him rot on the bench and then release him so they could play a weak-hitting rookie.
