A Simi Valley man was in stable condition Sunday after suffering major leg injuries when his motorcycle collided with a van in Moorpark, authorities said.
The collision happened at 9 p.m. Saturday when John MacDonald, 24, of Simi Valley tried to make a left turn onto Moorpark Road from Tierra Rejada Road, Senior Sheriff’s Deputy William Therrien said.
A van driven by Donacio Mira Montez had entered the intersection on a green light, Therrien said. MacDonald did not yield the right of way and hit the van, Therrien said.
MacDonald, who was wearing a helmet and protective clothing, was thrown from his motorcycle onto the asphalt roadway and suffered major injuries to his right leg.
He was taken to Simi Valley Hospital by ambulance and is listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
