Safeguard Health to Acquire Managed Dental Care Rival

ANAHEIM — Safeguard Health Enterprises Inc. said it has signed definitive agreements to acquire American Dental Corp., a major managed dental health-care competitor based in Dallas. Terms were not disclosed.
In announcing tentative plans for the acquisition last month, Safeguard said the transaction should add about 200,000 members, swelling the Anaheim company’s membership rolls to about 1 million.
Safeguard is a managed care organization that provides dental and vision programs and offers health indemnity and life insurance.
