TV Warms Up for the Democrats

A repeat of a major miniseries, new documentaries, series and specials highlight the weekend’s entertainment.

A&E; encores its terrific Emmy-nominated miniseries “Pride and Prejudice,” Sunday at 5 and 9 p.m., continuing Monday and Tuesday at 6 and 10 p.m. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle star in this adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic.

TBS presents “Biker Women,” Sunday at 6 and 10 p.m., a documentary looking at the friendship that develops among four women who love their motorcycles and the open road when they travel from an annual biker fest in Sturgis, S.D., to California.

Premiering Sunday at 9 p.m. on the Disney Channel is “An African Love Story,” starring Hume Cronyn and his late wife, Jessica Tandy. The documentary features footage from the couple’s 1966 African safari and Cronyn’s recent return to the continent with their daughter, Tandy.

The Disney Channel also unveils two new series on Sunday. “Amazing Animals,” at 6 p.m., takes a single aspect of the animal world and explores that characteristic prevalent among the creatures.

“Audubon’s Animal Adventures,” at 6:30 p.m., examines endangered species and the human efforts behind the species’ survival.

Showtime’s latest series, “Women: Stories of Passion,” kicks off tonight at 11:10. The erotic anthology series is written and directed by women.

The Democratic convention in Chicago, to begin Monday, is one of the topics of discussion on public affairs shows.
