Memphis center Lorenzen Wright, the seventh player selected in the 1996 NBA draft, signed a $5.1-million, three-year contract with the Clippers on Monday.

“I’m very happy to be signed right now,” Wright said. “It took a little time, but everything good takes time.”

Wright, who broke a bone in his right foot while jogging at the NBA pre-draft camp in Chicago last June, has been cleared to begin full workouts after having a small screw inserted in the foot in a minor surgical procedure last month.

“Everything is looking good right now,” Wright said. “I went to check with Dr. [Tony] Daly the last time I was in L.A. and he told me that my foot was healed, so I can begin playing any time.”

Wright, 6 feet 11, averaged 17.4 points and 10.4 rebounds last season as a sophomore.

Meanwhile, free-agent center Brian Williams, who averaged a career-high 15.8 points and 7.6 rebounds last season for the Clippers, remains unsigned.
