Two 18-year-old males were shot and critically wounded Saturday night during a fight with another man near Knott’s Berry Farm, police said Sunday.

Carlos P. Torres of Santa Ana and Juan F. Elias of Tustin were both shot in the upper chest and remained in critical but stable condition Sunday at local hospitals, Buena Park Police Lt. R. Chaney said.

Police said the two victims were leaving Knott’s Berry Farm when they were confronted just before midnight near a restaurant at La Palma Avenue and Beach Boulevard.

An argument broke out between the three youths and Torres was shot first, near the parking lot of the Claim Jumper restaurant.

The gunman chased Elias around the outside of the restaurant and shot him, Chaney said.

Torres was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange by paramedics while Elias was first taken to UCI by friends, and then transferred to the trauma unit at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.

The suspect is described as a male Latino, 17 or 18 years old, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10 and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black baggy pants and white tennis shoes and had a shaved head, Chaney said.

Police ask any witnesses to the assault or anyone with information to call the Buena Park Police Department at (714) 562-3902.
