Police Chief Accepts $922 for DARE

Share

Police Chief Daryl Wicker received a heavy plastic bottle again this year, and he says he’s very grateful.

The oversized plastic bottle, a replica of a soft-drink container, contained $922 from booster clubs of various school organizations. The boosters are parents of students participating in sports, band and other activities. They raise funds through bingo games and annually present Wicker a donation for the Police Department’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.

“Thanks for providing the necessary dollars to continue this program,” Wicker told the booster club representatives at a recent City Council meeting. “We couldn’t continue to work without you.”

Wicker noted that DARE provides drug education to all Cypress schools. He said it is an important part of the Police Department’s community outreach.
