Mystery Gator Is Killed
Associated Press

Police in this Washington suburb killed a 6-foot-long alligator early Friday because they feared it would endanger area residents and they had no equipment with which to capture an animal that is not native to the area.
Authorities think it crawled out of the Potomac River onto the property of Ross and Betty Lou Summers, but no one knows how it got into the river.
