Girl Shoots Self With Police Officer’s Gun
A 4-year-old girl who accidentally shot herself with her police officer mother’s gun was in critical condition Friday with head wounds.
The child was wounded Thursday afternoon at her home in Queens by a bullet that entered above her right eye and traveled through the top of her skull, police said.
Police said the mother, who was not identified, was sitting with her daughter at a table where she had put down her .38 caliber revolver. The mother turned to do something else and the girl apparently picked up the gun, police said.
