OUTLOOK

Baume, with strong QB instincts, is one of 27 players from a 9-1 junior varsity team. Costa Mesa returns to the more simplified double-wing offense employed in its glory days under Coach Myron Miller, when it reached the Southern Section finals in 1993. A good offensive line should help Herzog, Felter and Hamade in the backfield. Costa Mesa must win games on the line of scrimmage; ball control, wearing teams down and getting by on a minimum of offense are crucial if it hopes to make a run.
