Construction on Moorpark’s new downtown elementary school hasn’t begun, but the school now has a principal.

Theresa Williams--principal of Flory elementary school, the city’s oldest--has been picked by Moorpark’s school board to head the new school, to be built on Casey Road. She will be replaced at Flory by the school’s program coordinator, Pam Hill.

Both women will remain in their present positions until the new school is built.

Board President Clint Harper said the district is close to finalizing site plans for the proposed school, to be built on the location of the old high school. However, a date to start construction has not yet been set.
