Cooke to Host Navy-Notre Dame

Navy and Notre Dame will play their 1998 football game at the stadium the Washington Redskins are building in Landover, Md., owner Jack Kent Cooke said.

Cooke hopes the Nov. 14, 1998, game will lead to other events at the 78,600-seat stadium which is scheduled for completion before the 1997 NFL season.

Tenth-ranked Miami (2-0) regains two key starters when it opens Big East conference play tonight at Rutgers. Running back Danyell Ferguson and receiver Yatil Greene will return after completing suspensions for accepting a limousine ride paid for by former Miami receiver Wesley Carroll. . . . Tennessee freshman running back Brian Darden, who missed practice Wednesday, is no longer a member of the team, Coach Phillip Fulmer said, adding that Darden also missed some classes and weight workouts. . . . Freshman linebacker Eric Jefferson, a top recruit for Illinois, has a medical problem and will be redshirted, said Coach Lou Tepper, refusing to disclose the problem.
