Obituaries : Wesley R. Lambert; Photographer
Wesley Robert Lambert of Camarillo, a retired photographic technologist with the Navy, died Sunday in a Camarillo hospital. He was 72.
Lambert was born March 16, 1924, in San Francisco. After graduating from Mission High School, Lambert joined the Navy in 1941, said his wife of 49 years, E. Jean Lambert.
He left the service after three years of active duty and opened a photography shop.
“He was always interested in cameras,” his wife said.
Lambert, a 34-year resident of Ventura County, continued as a photographer in a civil service capacity, with missiles as his models. That job took him to China Lake and then to Point Mugu Navy base, his wife said.
He was a longtime member of the Society of Photo-Instrumentation Engineers, and for many years published Sixteen Frames, a newsletter dedicated to collectors of antique motion picture cameras, a field in which he gained world renown, said his wife.
He stopped publishing the newsletter in June.
In addition to his wife, Lambert is survived by two sons, Michael Lambert of Camarillo and Patrick Lambert of Rochester, N.Y.; one sister, Jean Carson of Bethesda, Md.; and two brothers, Ron Lambert of Columbia, Calif., and Morgan Lambert of Richmond.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary, Camarillo, with Pastor James Harmeling officiating.
