COSTA MESA — Opera Pacific expects to name a new director Monday, according to a company spokesman.
David DiChiera, who has led the company since its inception in 1987, said Wednesday that he would be stepping down to meet increased demands at the Michigan Opera Theater, which he founded in 1971.
A spokesman for Opera Pacific, which stages productions at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, said Friday that an offer is being made to a prospective new director but that the candidate could not be identified because negotiations were still pending.
DiChiera, 61, is expected to continue with the company in some artistic advisory capacity.
