Domestic Violence Will Be Forum Topic
Offering information that could help end what Los Angeles City Councilman Marvin Braude called “the vicious cycle of domestic violence,” a forum will be held in Encino on Tuesday, Braude’s office has announced.
Scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the banquet room of Encino Glen, 16821 Burbank Blvd., the two-hour forum will feature a panel that includes Det. Mitch Robbins, coordinator of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Domestic Abuse Response Teams; Deputy City Attys. Judith Kullman and Martha Gutierrez; LAPD Reserve Officer Susie Caron; and Gail Pincus, director of the Domestic Violence Abuse Center in Northridge.
Titled “Domestic Violence--What We Do About It,” the forum will be moderated by Marjorie Braude, chairwoman of the city’s Domestic Violence Task Force.
LAPD Deputy Chief Martin Pomeroy, who oversees the department’s San Fernando Valley bureau, will speak at the program’s start.
“Domestic violence is a tragedy in American homes. It is an ugly pattern of abuse which must be stopped,” Braude said.
“I urge anyone with an interest in relieving the terrible pattern of suffering which domestic violence causes to attend this seminar.”
To make a reservation, call Braude’s field office in Encino at (818) 756-8150.
