Costa Mesa Game Called After Player Injured

Costa Mesa’s 36-3 victory over Coronado Friday night was stopped with 9 minutes 39 seconds left in the game.

Coronado quarterback Adrian Taufaasau collapsed on the field after being tackled. Taufaasau remained unconscious on the field for 25 minutes before paramedics took him to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

A hospital spokesman would not release information about Taufaasau’s condition.

The game was called after Taufaasau’s injury.

Costa Mesa’s Steve Herzog rushed for four touchdowns on runs of 31, 49, 29 and 1 yards. Vince Hamade scored on a six-yard run.

Herzog finished with 278 yards in 22 carries.
