Slippery Politics in Thousand Oaks

Share

The public can’t win when it comes to dealing the nefarious political agenda here in Thousand Oaks. Mayor Andy Fox pushes City Council meetings along, limiting public input, because he wants to go home to bed; the Planning Commission waits for people to go home before it pushes through approval on a portion of a controversial issue.

I agree with Marilyn Carpenter’s protest, but not her methods. If she knew the commission would continue without her and approve a contentious issue in the absence of public debate, why did she leave the meeting?

If she had stayed at the meeting and voted, the pending environmental report would have been rejected. Or would it? Was Carpenter going to vote for or against this report? Did she leave so that it would pass without her having to vote yes? If she intended to vote no, she certainly left Chairman Forrest Frields holding the bag. Or has she simply put political grandstanding before serving the public good?

If someone decides to ask her some questions about her actions, they’d better do it before 11 p.m.
