Two people have been arrested on attempted murder charges after they allegedly stabbed two teenagers Saturday as part of an ongoing gang retaliation, authorities said.

The suspects, one adult and one juvenile, both of Newbury Park, are also accused of pointing a handgun at one of their teenage victims, according to Sgt. Mike De Los Santos of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Gang Unit.

Arrested were Alfonso Farfan, 21, and a 15-year-old boy whom authorities would not identify because of his age. Farfan was being held Sunday at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, said a jail spokeswoman. The juvenile was being held without bail at Juvenile Hall, authorities said.

Two other suspects remained at large.

The incident occurred about 6:25 p.m. on Paseo Le Perla in Thousand Oaks. One of the victims, a 15-year-old boy from Newbury Park, is a gang associate who was targeted in a drive-by shooting in April, De Los Santos said.

The youth told detectives that he had gone to the mailbox and was attacked by members of a rival street gang. During the investigation, deputies found an associate of the first victim, a 14-year-old boy from Newbury Park, had also been stabbed in the attack, authorities said.

Deputies would not identify the victims because of their age. Both were treated at Columbia Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks and released.

Witnesses helped deputies identify two of the suspects, and a few hours after the attack a witness called the Sheriff’s Department to report that the suspects had returned to the area.

Farfan was arrested late Saturday night in the 600 block of Paseo Esmeralda, one block from where the alleged attack took place, and the juvenile was arrested at his house on Heather Ridge Avenue, De Los Santos said.

Police are asking those with information about the two remaining suspects to call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK. Authorities are offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
