Falcons Re-Sign Nagle as a Backup
In the wake of quarterback Jeff George’s suspension, the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday re-signed Browning Nagle as a backup.
Bobby Hebert, who had been playing behind George, will start Sunday when the Falcons face the 49ers in San Francisco. The Falcons also released running back Lincoln Coleman and wide receiver Burnell Roques from their practice squad.
Nagle, 28, was released by the Falcons on Aug. 25.

Dallas Coach Barry Switzer said that running back Emmitt Smith, suffering nagging rib, neck knee and ankle injuries, will be rested more during games until he is 100%.
“It would probably help [Emmitt] to play [backup] Sherman Williams some,” Switzer said.
Meanwhile, Deion Sanders’ divorce is apparently off after the receiver-cornerback and his wife, Carolyn, had a joint motion granted in Collin County to dismiss a divorce petition.
