New Youth Program Heats Up Tonight

Hot Friday Nights, a new youth program for seventh and eighth graders who live or attend school in Brea, begins this evening.

“Back to School & Welcome Bash,” the first in a series of events, will be from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Admission is $5, and the first 50 in line will receive a prize.

Other events will be scheduled once a month and supervised by Brea Community Services staff members.

They will feature theme nights, a disc jockey and dancing, movies, contests, video and table games, volleyball, basketball, soccer, prizes and snacks.

Ahead are the “Halloween Haunt” on Oct. 25, “Sports Nite” on Nov. 29 and “Jingle Bell Rock” on Dec. 20.

Each participant must complete and return a registration slip; purchase a Brea Community Center card for a one-time $5 fee; show school identification or proof of residence; and pay a $5 admission fee.

All events will be at the city’s new Community Center, Randolph Avenue and Madison Way.
