** Maxi Priest, “Man With the Fun,” Virgin Records. Fans of this London-bred dance-hall pop artist have waited four years for this album--his seventh--and the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach only works some of the time. Jazzy dance-hall tracks such as the Shaggy-aided duet “That Girl” drip with sexual posturing and strength, but when Priest veers too far away from the reggae range, the album begins to limp. The generic R&B; of “Golden Teardrops” and “Ain’t It Enough” is the kind of irrelevant, feel-good material better left in the hands of Seal.

Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
