Zamano’s Prognosis Better After Surgery

Doctors said Rosco Zamano, a UCLA freshman linebacker injured while playing on a kickoff-return team against Michigan, might play football again.

In a four-hour operation at University of Michigan Hospital, sections of a vein from Zamano’s left leg were grafted onto an artery in his right leg after that artery became blocked.

His right knee was separated, and ligament damage might need repair in four to six weeks. Zamano, from Fontana High, also tore the lining of the artery, causing a blockage of blood flow to the lower leg.
