Holocaust Survivor to Share Experiences

Share

Holocaust survivor Elane Geller will speak Saturday at the Sherman Oaks branch of the Los Angeles Public Library about her experiences during the war.

Geller, a native of Poland, was imprisoned at the age of 5 at the Bergen-Belsen camp in northern Germany. She was freed during the Allied liberation five years later.

Diane Gordon, a librarian at the Sherman Oaks branch, organized the talk by contacting the Museum of Tolerance at the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Museum officials recommended Geller.

Gordon said a visit to Sherman Oaks by someone with Geller’s extraordinary background is a rare occurrence.

“I can’t remember the last time we’ve had anything like this,” she said.

The event, scheduled for 2:30 p.m., is free and open to the public. The library is at 14245 Moorpark St.
