Don Dressler has won the American Cancer Society Orange County Region’s Volunteer of the Year Award for his efforts to promote cancer-prevention awareness and good eating habits.
Dressler, a resident of Irvine, was honored for his volunteer work at that city’s unit of the American Cancer Society, where he started the Eat Right Campaign to encourage people to eat five servings of fresh fruits and vegetables a day.
Dressler expanded his campaign to schools, grocery stores and businesses to inform people of the important role that nutrition plays in cancer prevention, society officials said.
Dressler, a board member of the Irvine Unit of the American Cancer Society, also volunteers in cancer patient services programs.
