Child Killer Beaten to Death in Prison

A convicted killer who committed one of Florida’s most notorious child abuse murders was beaten to death in prison, and police were investigating allegations that a radio broadcast about the case might have been a contributing factor in the prison slaying, officials said. Donald McDougall was serving a 34-year sentence for the sadistic 1982 slaying of 5-year-old Ursula Assaid. McDougall was fatally beaten with a piece of steel bar, said a spokeswoman for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
