A 26-year-old robbery suspect was slightly injured by police gunfire as he and an alleged accomplice fled from the El Nopal 2 Restaurant in Anaheim, police said Thursday.

The man and a 16-year-old, both with handguns, are accused of robbing the restaurant about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, when about a half-dozen people were inside.

One employee slipped out to call police, who surrounded the restaurant.

Mark Frank Delgadillo, 26, of Whittier, was wounded in the foot by police gunfire and was treated for his wound.

Officers fired on Delgadillo and the teen as they fled the restaurant in the 1200 block of West Lincoln Avenue.

An officer fired a shot at the suspects, but they continued running, dropping cash along the way, said Anaheim Police Lt. Ted Labahn.

Two officers confronted by the suspects a short time later also fired, Labahn said.

The suspects were taken into custody after running through several businesses and backyards, police said. At that time, officers noticed what appeared to be a graze wound on Delgadillo’s foot.

He was treated at a local hospital and released to police, who booked him into the Anaheim City Jail on a robbery charge.

The teen was taken to Orange County Juvenile Hall.
