After more than two years in the hospital, a 37-year-old Santa Ana man died Thursday of complications arising from the serious head and body injuries he suffered when he was struck by a van at a local intersection, police said.

Aurelio Carrasco died at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana from pneumonia, Police Sgt. Dick Faust said. Carrasco had been hospitalized since he was hit at East Oxford and Main streets, Faust said.

The driver of the van, whose name was not available Thursday, was cited at the time of the accident for failing to yield to a pedestrian, Faust said. It was not known Thursday if Carrasco’s death would lead to any new charges.
