Obituaries : Jean E. Omoth; Office Manager for Family Firm

Jean E. Omoth, a retired office manager for a civil engineering firm, died Thursday at her home in Ventura after a brief illness. She was 60.

Omoth was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Tomahawk, Wis. She was a 36-year resident of Ventura County, moving here from Minneapolis.

For 20 years Omoth was office manager for Omoth & Associates, a civil engineering firm owned by her family. She enjoyed bowling, tennis, volleyball, bingo and spending time in her garden.

“She and her family loved Rancho Oso, as we spent many weekends there over the years,” said her daughter Gloria Glaser of Paso Robles. Rancho Oso, located near Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara County, was a place to ride horses and camp, Glaser said.

In addition to Glaser, Omoth is survived by daughters Jeanine Omoth of Port Hueneme and Cynthia Peterson of Santa Rosa; sisters Lorna Culp of Santa Barbara, Lola Morgan of Woodland in Northern California, Diana Benson of Burnsville, Minn., and Merle Atkinson of Oakdale, Minn; and two grandchildren.

Omoth was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 1989.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. today at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura. Private interment will be with her husband in the Garden of Tranquility at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
