Trash Travails

On Sept. 30, the Channel Islands Beach Community Services District failed to pick up the refuse for all of La Granada Street on its regular schedule. One of our residents said she would contact the agency about its mistake. She was informed that the agency would not correct the situation that day and she was given the choice of Wednesday or Friday pickups or no pickup for the week.

She asked if there would be reimbursement for no pickup and was informed, “No.” She was also informed that her call was insufficient to take care of the other pickups and that each resident on the street would have to request a pickup from the district. Otherwise the trash would remain in the street until next week’s pickup.

There was a time when most people acknowledged their mistakes and offered to correct them immediately. Stupidity is one thing and arrogance another. Together they are unacceptable.

Someone should be replaced--maybe the entire staff and the board of directors too. Maybe we should annex to the contiguous city--they would provide better service and courtesy than the district.
