Columbia Offers Free Flu Shots

Share

As flu season approaches, Columbia Los Robles Hospital/Medical Center in Thousand Oaks is offering free shots to members of the local community.

Hospital spokeswoman Kris Carraway said Los Robles usually draws a crowd of 1,000 to 1,200 people for the free shots.

“People just line up,” she said.

The immunizations have become so popular that the hospital is looking for ways to host a drive-up system in the future. But for now, it’s asking people to walk in at any of the three clinics planned for the coming weeks.

Residents over age 60 and anyone with chronic medical problems that could be seriously complicated by influenza are especially encouraged to get a shot.

The first of the three sessions is planned for today from 9 a.m. to noon at the hospital, located on Janss Road west of Lynn Road, in classrooms A, B or C. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, the hospital will hold a clinic at the First Neighborhood Community Center, 31830 Village Center Road, Westlake Village.

The final session is scheduled for Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon in classrooms A, B and C at the hospital.
